The Opaque necklace features rare and lustrous Akoya baroque pearls and a number of Freshwater pearls. Mariko has also included a few spiky Akoya pearls to add texture and detail. They have been arranged irregularly which is typical in her work. The pearls are sourced from a local farm near Nagasaki, which is close to her hometown. The clasp is handmade from oxidised silver and as time goes by will age well.
With a delicate fusion of handcrafted designs and responsibly-sourced pearls, Mariko’s creations embody the essence of tranquil beaches from her youth, and the raw beauty of Brighton’s untamed shores, where she now resides.
