Matilda Press
Matilda Press is a contemporary jewellery designer based in Scotland. A 2024 graduate of the University of Dundee with First Class Honours, her work explores the interplay between artificial and natural light, drawing on the tension between the brightness of the man-made world and the fading presence of the stars.
Her graduate collection translated this concept into geometric metal structures that suspend gemstones within grids, partially obscured yet illuminated in unexpected ways. The work earned her several prizes including the ACJ Student Prize, the Double Doors Jewellery Graduate Award, and The Award for Responsible Making. She also received recognition from Dinny Hall, exhibited at New Designers in London, and was named a Goldsmiths’ Centre One to Watch 2025.
Sustainability lies at the core of her practice. Press prioritises recycled metals and responsibly sourced, fully traceable gemstones, ensuring her pieces reflect both creative vision and ethical responsibility. Her jewellery highlights not only the beauty of light and form but also a commitment to conscious making.
