ætla Spring Residency 2025

Summer Residency 2025
For our third residency, we are thrilled to feature Ebba Goring, Sarah Brown and Ciara Bowles, three remarkable jewellers bringing their unique artistry to this special program.

Sarah Brown

A native of the Isle of Islay, Sarah Brown’s jewellery is deeply connected to the wild beauty of Scotland’s West Coast. Rooted in Hebridean tradition, she gathers inspiration from the shoreline - collecting textures, forms, and details shaped by the tides.

Over the past 15 years, Sarah has refined her signature wax-carving technique, creating intricate pieces cast in precious metals and set with distinctive gemstones. Her muted palette echoes the rugged landscapes of Islay, capturing the endlessly rousing and romantic nature of its windswept beaches and ever-changing waters.

Each piece is crafted by hand in her island studio, infused with the essence of the sea and the romance of Scotland’s coastal wilderness.

Ebba Goring
Ebba Goring’s jewellery feels like a modern-day folk tale. Where hand-stitched cotton is turned into gold, and fleeting moments become lasting treasures. Inspired by textiles and fragments of history, her work carries a quiet nostalgia, inviting personal meaning while drawing from a shared collective memory.

Ebba's designs blend soft forms with the permanence of precious metal, capturing the beauty of traditional techniques in a contemporary way. From the grandeur of Elizabethan costume to the intricate metalwork of Viking treasure, historical influences weave through her collections, reinterpreted in her signature stitched style.

Each piece is made in her Dunfermline studio, where she works with recycled silver and gold, bringing her intricate designs to life with care and precision.

Ciara Bowles
Ciara Bowles' jewellery is shaped by a rich tapestry of influences - from her upbringing in London’s vibrant East End to her lifelong fascination with medieval history and adornment.

Created by hand in her London studio, Ciara uses traditional lost wax casting techniques and an intuitive design approach to bring her intricate, colourful collections to life. Drawing on familiar shapes - circles, stars, hearts - and pairing them with antique intaglios and vivid gemstones, each piece carries a sense of personal meaning and joyful expression.

Crafted from recycled gold and responsibly sourced stones, Ciara’s jewellery combines the energy of powerful colour with fine craftsmanship to create pieces designed to be worn, linked, and layered into evolving personal stories. At the heart of the brand is a celebration of human touch and individuality, offering future heirlooms full of character, romance, and connection
